This is very cool! I enjoy space combat sims, so might consider getting Starsector.
Interesting that it's not on Steam, another one for these games that are brave enough to go alone (like BAR). I wonder why they make the choice? Maybe it's int he FAQ...
I'm not exactly sure...but given that it's been in development since 2010, maybe it was a decision that made sense at the time that the developer never revisited? And at this point, they've built up a huge community outside of Steam that I don't know if it makes sense to migrate to Steam?
But do check it out (if you've ever played the old school Star Control 2 or Master of Orion, this will feel very familiar).
If I had ONE gripe about this game, it would be that there isn't a research tree or component to it, but honestly, the amount of discoverable content/loot in the game more than makes up for the lack of a research tree (the game also wasn't designed as a 4X, so it's not really an omission).
