Those gamer categories are interesting and would make for a great spider chart. However, I'd say they define motivations to play certain games rather than the type of gamer. I play Phasmaphobia for socialisation, but I play GTA for the independence.
I think that characteristic, in itself, might be an interesting category. Some people can play different games for different motivations, while others seek the same motivations in different games. It's kind of a meta category?
My instinct says to follow the game. To try and classify gamers is like trying to classify music listeners or move watchers. There's too much diversity and nuance to try and create specific 'types'.
